Ingredients

  • 1 ⅔ cups white sugar
  • ⅔ cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 (6-ounce) package milk chocolate chips
  • 16 large marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Base
In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, evaporated milk, butter, and salt. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Melt the Chocolate
Add the chocolate chips to the saucepan and continue stirring until the chocolate has melted completely. Remove the saucepan from heat.

Step 3: Add Marshmallows, Vanilla, and Nuts
Stir in the marshmallows, vanilla extract, and nuts (if using) until everything is well combined and the marshmallows are melted.

Step 4: Pour and Set
Pour the fudge mixture into an 8-inch square pan. Let it cool completely, then cut into squares and serve.

Tips for Success

  • Customize your fudge with different mix-ins like dried fruits, toffee bits, or coconut.
  • For smoother fudge, line the pan with parchment paper, making it easier to lift and cut.
