Dump and Bake Meatball Casserole

This simple, hearty meal is perfect for busy weeknights. Combining pasta, meatballs, and cheese into one dish, it’s a true comfort food classic that requires minimal prep time. No need to boil the pasta—just dump, bake, and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 bag frozen meatballs (defrosted)
  • 1 jar marinara or spaghetti sauce (approximately 24 ounces)
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 box bowtie pasta (approximately 12-16 ounces)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese (grated)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Step 2: Combine Ingredients

  • In a large, high-sided oven-safe pot or skillet, add the defrosted meatballs, marinara sauce, water, bowtie pasta, and Italian seasoning.
  • Stir until everything is evenly mixed.

Step 3: Bake

  • Cover the pot or skillet tightly with a lid or aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes.

Step 4: Add Cheese

  • Remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly on top.
  • Return to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 5: Rest and Serve

  • Let the casserole sit for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Tips

  • Customize It: Swap bowtie pasta for penne, rotini, or another pasta shape. Add vegetables like spinach or diced bell peppers for added nutrition.
  • Freezer-Friendly: Assemble the casserole (excluding the cheese topping) and freeze it before baking. When ready to cook, bake directly from frozen, adding extra time as needed.
  • Pair It: Serve with a side of garlic bread or a fresh salad for a complete meal.

This Dump and Bake Meatball Casserole is an effortless, crowd-pleasing dish that’s perfect for family dinners or potlucks!
