Ingredients
For the Batter:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups buttermilk (or homemade: 2 cups milk + 2 tablespoons vinegar or lemon juice)
- 4 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
For the Cinnamon Sugar Mixture:
- ⅔ cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Instructions
- Prepare Batter:
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, 2 cups of sugar, and eggs. Add the buttermilk, flour, and baking soda, mixing until smooth. - Layer Batter and Cinnamon Sugar:
Grease two loaf pans. Pour half (or slightly less) of the batter into the pans, dividing it equally. In a separate bowl, mix ⅔ cup sugar with the cinnamon, then sprinkle ¾ of this cinnamon mixture over the batter in the pans. - Add Remaining Batter and Swirl:
Pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon layer in each pan, then top with the rest of the cinnamon mixture. Use a knife to swirl the batter gently, creating a marbled effect. - Bake:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the loaves for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. - Cool and Serve:
Let the bread cool in the pans for about 20 minutes before removing. This recipe makes 2 delicious loaves.
Enjoy this delightful treat that’s sure to be a hit with family and friends!
