Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons yeast
- 1 cup milk (warm)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until it becomes frothy. - Mix Dry Ingredients:
In another bowl, mix the flour and salt. - Combine Ingredients:
Add the egg to the yeast mixture and whisk to combine. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. - Knead the Dough:
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5–6 minutes. - First Rise:
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours or until it doubles in size. - Shape the Buns:
Punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions (8–10 pieces). Shape each portion into a smooth ball and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between them. - Second Rise:
Cover the buns with a cloth and let them rise for 30–45 minutes until puffy. - Bake:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the buns with milk or an egg wash for a golden crust. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until lightly golden. - Cool and Serve:
Allow the buns to cool slightly before serving. They’re perfect as dinner rolls, sandwich buns, or simply enjoyed with butter.
Enjoy your soft and fluffy milk buns!
