These Mozzarella-Stuffed Onion Rings are a crispy, cheesy snack that’s perfect for any occasion!
Ingredients
100g mozzarella cheese 🧀
1 onion 🧅
50g all-purpose flour
100g breadcrumbs
2 eggs 🥚
Cooking oil for frying
Directions
1. Prepare the Cheese and Onion
Slice the Mozzarella: Cut the mozzarella into strips about 0.5 cm wide and long enough to fit inside the onion rings. Set aside.
Slice the Onion: Peel the onion and cut it into rings about 1.5–2 cm thick. Separate the rings and pair them up, ensuring there’s a 0.3–0.5 cm size difference between the pairs.
2. Assemble the Stuffed Onion Rings
Stuff with Mozzarella: Place a mozzarella strip snugly between two onion rings (one slightly smaller than the other) to “sandwich” the cheese. Ensure the cheese is fully enclosed by the onion rings to prevent it from oozing out while frying.
3. Coat the Onion Rings
Set Up a Coating Station: Place flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in three separate shallow bowls.
Coat the Rings:
Dip the stuffed onion rings in the flour, ensuring they’re evenly coated.
Submerge them in the beaten eggs.
Press them into the breadcrumbs until fully coated.
Repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps for a double coating to ensure extra crunch and prevent leakage.
4. Fry the Rings
Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the coated onion rings in batches, ensuring they’re fully submerged in the oil. Cook for 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
5. Serve
Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces, such as marinara, ranch, or garlic aioli.
Enjoy these indulgent Mozzarella-Stuffed Onion Rings—the perfect combination of cheesy and crispy! 😋✨
