Ingredients
- 2 packs of cinnamon rolls
- 4 large apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith or Golden Delicious)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (use salted caramel if preferred)
How to Make Apple Cinnamon Roll Lasagna
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly coat an 8″ x 8″ x 2″ glass or ceramic dish with nonstick spray (a 7″ x 9″ x 2″ dish also works).
- Prepare the Apple Filling: In a bowl, combine the diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch, mixing until the apples are evenly coated.
- Roll Out the Cinnamon Dough: Cut the cinnamon rolls into 1/2-inch strips. On a floured surface, roll them out until fluffy. Dust with flour to prevent sticking, and flour your hands if needed for easier handling.
- Layer the Dish: Arrange a layer of the flattened cinnamon roll strips on the bottom and sides of the dish, pressing them together to seal.
- Add Filling: Spread half of the apple mixture over the cinnamon roll layer. Drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of caramel sauce over the apples.
- Repeat Layers: Cover with another layer of cinnamon rolls, then add the remaining apple mixture and more caramel sauce. Finish with a final layer of cinnamon rolls.
- Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Let the lasagna cool for at least 30 minutes. Drizzle with the icing that comes with the cinnamon rolls, slice, and enjoy!
